Dhaka, July 30 -- A Dhaka court has rejected the bail application by social media star Abdullah Al Mamun aka Prince Mamun, who was arrested in a case over beating his wife for a dowry of Tk 10 million.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ismail made the decision after a hearing on Thursday, said Sub-Inspector Md Bhulu Mia of the Prosecution Division.

On Jul 23, Prince Mamun attempted suicide by tying a saree to a ceiling fan during a Facebook Live broadcast from his house in the Bashundhara Residential Area.

His wife Atqiya Faizah Mohona filed a case against him over the incident.

Previously, Mohona had filed another case against Mamun on charges of beating her after demanding a dowry of Tk 10 million.
