Dhaka, March 15 -- The authorities of Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal have suspended two nurses after as many patients died soon after being "mistakenly administered" injections before their operations.
Brig Gen AKM Moshiul Munir, the hospital director, said the two patients died at the female ward of the ENT (ear, nose and throat) Department of the hospital on Sunday morning.
The dead are Helena Begum, 48, and Shefali Begum, 60.
A three-member inquiry committee has been formed, the hospital director said.
Hospital authorities said Helena Begum had been admitted for thyroid disease on Feb 23, while Shefali Begum, suffering from a tumour in her mouth, was hospitalised on Mar 8.
