Bangladeshi general leading blue helmets in Cyprus calls on Tarique
Dhaka, June 3 -- Lt Gen Mohammad Asadullah Minhazul Alam, the Bangladesh Army officer chosen to lead the UN peacekeeping mission in Cyprus, has met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman before leaving for his new posting.
The meeting took place at the Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon, said the Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Mostafa Zulfiquar Hasan, well known as Hasan Shiplu.
According to him, the Army officer met the premier before leaving for Cyprus to take up his new responsibilities.
"Discussions were held on Bangladesh's role in UN peacekeeping operations, professionalism, and upholding the reputation and glory of the Armed Forces in the international arena," added Shilpu.
