Dhaka, April 16 -- Bangladesh has called for coordinated global action to strengthen data systems, bridge the digital divide, expand technology transfer during a UN forum in New York.

In a media statement issued on Wednesday, the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations, said these calls were made at the 59th session of the Commission on Population Development (CPD-59) at the UN headquarters.

As per the statement, Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, Bangladesh's permanent representative to the UN, urged enhanced research, stronger information systems, increased international cooperation, technology transfer, capacity building, along with effective steps to reduce the global digital divide.
