Dhaka, March 1 -- Bangladesh has called for respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries amid rising tensions in Iran and across the Middle East.

The position was outlined in a media statement issued late Saturday after an emergency meeting at the foreign ministry, which expressed "deep concern" over the escalating conflict and the safety of Bangladeshis in the region.

"Conflict never brings a lasting solution; peaceful settlement is possible only through dialogue, mutual respect and commitment to international law," the ministry said, urging all sides to exercise maximum restraint and intensify diplomatic efforts.
