Dhaka, April 22 -- The government has set a target of procuring 500,000 tonnes of Boro paddy and 1.3 million tonnes of parboiled rice next month.

The decision came in a meeting of the Food Planning and Procurement Committee with Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed at the Secretariat on Wednesday, according to a media statement.

The Boro paddy price will be Tk 2 higher per kg and each kg of parboiled rice will get cheaper by Tk 1 compared to the rates in the last Aman season, it read.

The procurement of paddy and wheat will start on May 3, followed by parboiled rice on May 15. The procurement process will continue till Aug 31.
