Dhaka, April 23 -- The Appellate Division and the High Court Division have started hearing cases virtually in a bid to save energy as Bangladesh faces frequent power cuts amid growing fuel crisis driven by the Middle East escalations.
A total of 707 cases were heard and 177 were disposed of on the opening day of the virtual operations on Wednesday, says an advisory.
The Appellate Division (including the Chamber Judge Court) heard 95 cases and disposed of another 21 cases.
In the High Court Division, 612 cases were heard and 156 cases were disposed of.
The advisory also orders reduction in the use of electricity during court sessions. It also instructed the apex court to use 30 percent less fuel in vehicles.
