Bangladesh sees fastest rape trial in Ramisa case, awaits verdict on Sunday
Dhaka, June 7 -- The verdict in the rape and murder of 8-year-old Ramisa Akter in Dhaka's Pallabi will be announced on Sunday, marking the quickest murder trial in Bangladesh's history.
The verdict comes within four working days from the start of the trial.
However, there is an earlier precedent of resolving a drug case in three working days.
The fastest rape trial yet was over the rape and murder 8-year-old Asiya, identified by a single name, which was completed in 14 days last year in Magura.
The convict was handed the death penalty.
In Ramisa's case, her family expects the toughest punishment for the convicts.
