Bangladesh reports 11 more deaths of children due to measles, symptoms
Dhaka, May 19 -- A worsening measles outbreak has claimed the lives of 11 more children across the country in the last 24 hours, with two confirmed deaths from the virus and nine from related symptoms.
During the same period, 73 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases were recorded, according to the regular health bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.
The latest fatalities push the official toll to 77 confirmed measles deaths since Mar 15.
Additionally, 398 children have died with suspected measles symptoms during this period.
Dhaka Division has seen the worst of the outbreak, with 158 deaths, followed by Rajshahi Division with 78 fatalities.
