Dhaka, April 12 -- At least 10 people have died over a period of 24 hours from measles and related symptoms, as the outbreak of the highly contagious disease continues to spread across Bangladesh.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), four patients died from confirmed measles, while six others died showing symptoms of the disease in the 24 hours leading up to 8am Sunday.
According to the health directorate's daily measles bulletin, since Mar 15, the confirmed death toll from measles has reached 28.
Dhaka has recorded the highest number of fatalities with 15 deaths, followed by Barishal with five.
Three deaths each were recorded in Chattogram and Rajshahi divisions, while two occurred in Mymensingh.
