Bangladesh, Aug. 16 -- Bangladesh has reported its highest single-day dengue hospitalisations of the year, with 805 patients admitted in 24 hours as deaths rose to 70.

Another three people died during the period, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Sunday.

The previous highest daily admissions this year was 756, set on Aug 11.

Of the admissions, 149 were at hospitals in the Dhaka North City Corporation area, 112 in the South City Corporation area, and 156 elsewhere in Dhaka.

Among the divisions, Khulna recorded 97 admissions, Chattogram 82, Barishal 80, Mymensingh 65, Rajshahi 55, Rangpur seven, and Sylhet two.

August alone has seen 16 deaths.

In July, 36 people died from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease.
