Dhaka, Sept. 24 -- Another five people have died with suspected measles symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Since March 15, 980 people have died after developing symptoms associated with measles, government figures show. Another 101 people have died after testing positive for measles.

That brings the number of deaths linked to measles or suspected measles symptoms to 1,081 over nearly six months. Most of those who died were children.

Dhaka Division has recorded the highest number of deaths among people with suspected measles symptoms, at 442, followed by Sylhet with 172.
