Dhaka, April 6 -- Health authorities have reported five deaths with measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 180 new cases have been confirmed during this period.

This brings the tally of deaths with measles symptoms to 118 since Mar 15.

In a statement on Monday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said 1,282 people arrived at hospitals across the country with measles symptoms between 8am on Sunday and 8am on Monday.

Until now, 5,940 people have been hospitalised with measles symptoms nationwide, while 6,160 have recovered and been discharged after treatment.
