Bangladesh, July 7 -- Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has informed the UN that Bangladesh Police has completed preparations to face the challenge of the current unstable and complex security situation in Haiti.

The minister made the statement during a bilateral meeting with Atul Khare, under-secretary-general of the United Nations Department of Operational Support (DOS), according to a media statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs around midnight on Monday.

The minister is currently in New York to participate in the 5th United Nations Police Chiefs' Conference 'UN-COPS' at the UN Headquarters.

A five-member delegation from Bangladesh is scheduled to return home on Jul 12 after the conference on Jul 7-8.
