Bangladesh identify nine measles clusters in Chattogram, vaccination advised
Dhaka, May 14 -- Health officials have flagged nine wards in Chattogram as measles hotspots, pointing to rising infections in densely populated and industrial areas of the city.
The clusters were designated on Monday based on areas with the highest infection rates, according to Khadija Ahmed, surveillance and immunisation medical officer (SIMO) for the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Chattogram City Corporation.
The locations are: Ward 2 (Jalalabad), Ward 4 (Chandgaon), Ward 9 (North Pahartali), Ward 14 (Lalkhan Bazar), Ward 18 (East Bakalia), Ward 31 (Alkaran), Ward 38 (South Middle Halishahar), Ward 39 (South Halishahar), and Ward 40 (North Patenga).
