Dhaka, April 3 -- The health authorities have confirmed 42 new cases of measles over the past 24 hours, while 947 people have been admitted to hospitals with symptoms.

On Friday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said three patients with measles symptoms died during the period.

Dhaka recorded the highest number of admissions at 315, while Rangpur saw the lowest at 42.

Since Mar 15, a total of 3,776 people have been hospitalised for measles-like symptoms, of whom 2,527 have been discharged after treatment, while 99 with symptoms died.

Of them, nine were diagnosed with the disease.

Since Mar 15, 5,792 people exhibiting measles symptoms have sought hospital care nationwide.
