Dhaka, April 27 -- Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon has expressed his hope for a fair trial in the alleged murders of two Bangladeshi students in the United States.
The minister made the remarks during a meeting with US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent Christensen at the Secretariat on Monday, according to a media statement.
The US side informed the minister that the alleged "murderer" has been arrested, it added.
On Sunday, Bangladesh called for a swift investigation into the deaths and demanded that those responsible be brought to justice.
Nahida Sultana Bristy and Zamil Ahamed Limon, both PhD students at the University of South Florida, were found dead in the US.
They had been missing since Apr 16.
