Bangladesh, May 23 -- Awami League leader and freedom fighter Yusuf Hossain Humayun has died.

He was 90.

Yusuf breathed his last around 6pm on Saturday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka, his son Aftab Yusuf Raj said.

The funeral and burial of the former presidium member of the Awami League - whose activities have been banned - will be announced later, Raj added.

Former MP Yusuf, also a senior Supreme Court lawyer, was a member of the Awami League advisory council until his death.

The former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Yusuf also served as the vice chairman of the Bangladesh Bar Council and was elected president of the Barishal District Bar Association several times.
