Dhaka, Feb. 17 -- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee members Salahuddin Ahmed and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud, and several other leaders have received calls to take oath as members of the cabinet in the incoming government led by Tarique Rahman.

Officials at the BNP chairperson's office said that as of 1pm on Tuesday, a number of leaders had been contacted by the Cabinet Division to be sworn in as ministers or state ministers.

Those said to have received calls include Iqbal Hasan Mahmud; Dr AZM Zahid Hossain; Chairperson's Advisor Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee; Organising Secretary Shama Obaid; central leader Forhad Hossain Azad, and ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon.
