Argentina superstar Messi overtakes Klose to become World Cup's all-time leading scorer
Dhaka, June 22 -- Argentine maestro Lionel Messi has added another milestone to his glittering career, scoring against Austria to become the highest goalscorer in World Cup history.
The Argentina captain had the chance to break the record early on but saw his penalty saved on Monday.
Undeterred, he found the net later in the first half with a clinical finish to move clear of former Germany striker Miroslav Klose.
Messi had drawn level with Klose's tally of 16 World Cup goals after scoring a hat-trick against Algeria in Argentina's opening match of the tournament.
His strike against Austria took him to 17 goals, making him the leading scorer in World Cup history.
