Dhaka, June 12 -- Another child with symptoms of measles has died in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, with authorities logging 126 new cases.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its regular bulletin on Friday that a total of 92 people died from confirmed infections since Mar 15.

The health directorate said another 551 people died with symptoms of the highly infectious disease.

Among those with suspected measles, the highest number of deaths -- 232 -- occurred in the Dhaka Division, followed by 86 deaths in the Rajshahi Division.

Over the past 24 hours, 1,027 people with measles symptoms sought treatment at hospitals, of whom 878 were admitted.
