AI cameras launched on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in bid to curb extortion, traffic violations
Bangladesh, Aug. 18 -- Artificial intelligence-powered cameras have been installed along a 250km stretch of the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in a move aimed at curbing extortion and detecting traffic violations.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed inaugurated the system near Meghnaghat in Narayanganj's Sonargaon on Tuesday.
He said the AI-powered "Auto Fine System" would help prevent extortion on the highway while allowing authorities to respond quickly to traffic offences.
The system can detect speeding and illegal parking as well as three-wheelers and vehicles travelling on the wrong side of the road, according to the minister.
