Dhaka, Oct. 7 -- A Dhaka court has once again rejected constroversial lawmaker Gazi Nazrul Islam's bail application in a case over the alleged abetment of his second wife Mariam Khatun's suicide.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the order after a hearing on Wednesday, according to Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam of the Prosecution Department.

Lawyers Mizanur Rahman and Mahabubur Rahman moved the bail application on Nazrul's behalf.

Obaidur Rahman, Mariam's uncle and another accused in the case, also sought bail, but his lawyer did not attend the hearing.

Prosecutor Harun Or Rashid opposed Nazrul's bail application.

After the hearing, the court rejected the application.
