Dhaka, April 4 -- In Narayanganj, a newborn girl's first hours were a fight for survival. Abandoned in a bag by her own mother, the infant was rescued by locals before tragedy struck.

Now, a neighbouring couple has stepped in to raise her, offering a chance at the life her struggling parents feared they could not provide.

The baby was born early on Thursday in a rented home in Baktarkandi, Bandar Upazila.

Her mother is a homemaker, and her father, physically disabled, earns a living as a rickshaw puller.

Fearing financial strain after already having three children, the mother attempted to leave the newborn by the riverside that morning.
