Dhaka, May 1 -- Five rivers in the northeast of Bangladesh are flowing above the danger level. The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) of the Water Development Board (WDB) has predicted that the flooding situation in the Netrokona District may deteriorate.

Emon Kalyan Das, assistant engineer of the centre, said on Friday evening: "The water levels of the five rivers are flowing above the pre-monsoon danger level at several points so far. The rainfall is not stopping in the Netrokona district. This trend may continue for another three days. Due to this, there is a possibility of the flood situation deteriorating there and new areas being flooded."
