Dhaka, April 23 -- At least five children with measles or related symptoms have died across the country in the 24 hours until Thursday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the deceased, one child was a confirmed measles patient, while the other four exhibited symptoms of the highly contagious viral disease.
During this period, 125 new cases of measles were officially identified.
The DGHS's regular measles bulletin revealed that 39 people have died from confirmed measles cases since Mar 15.
The Dhaka Division has recorded the highest fatalities, with 25 deaths.
In addition to confirmed cases, 194 children have died with measles-like symptoms over the same period.
