Dhaka, Feb. 18 -- A group of leaders and activists of the Awami League, whose political activities are banned, have staged a procession outside the party's Noakhali office after breaking a lock at the main gate and putting up a banner.

The incident occurred around 7am on Wednesday on the main road in Maijdee town. Police later removed the banner at about 10am after being informed.

Sudharam Model Police Station chief Md Touhidul Islam said five people were detained from in front of the office.

Residents said the Noakhali Awami League office had been set on fire and vandalised by protesting students and locals on Jul 4, 2025, a day before the student-led mass uprising that ultimately toppled the party from power began. The main gate was ...
