Dhaka, Oct. 4 -- Dhaka customs officials have seized nine gold bars weighing 4.5kg in the possession of a Malaysian national at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport.

A statement from the agency on Sunday said that the gold bars were seized from a passenger on a Malaysian Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Dhaka at 1:45am on Sunday, based on information from intelligence agencies.

The detainee has been identified 43-year-old Yang Don Siu. A total of nine gold bars, four weighing 1kg each and five weighing 100 grams, were recovered. The total weight of the gold bars is 4.5kg.

Dhaka customs authorities say that the suspect passenger was kept under surveillance after the flight landed.
