30 dead in Chattogram as heavy rain fuels flooding, landslides
Bangladesh, July 9 -- Disasters triggered by excessive rain, hilly runoff and landslides have reportedly killed 30 people in the Chattogram Division.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief said cash, rice and baby food have been allocated as emergency relief for people in the affected areas.
On Thursday, the ministry released its latest situation report detailing the damage and response measures taken by the district administrations.
According to the report, the highest death toll was recorded in Cox's Bazar, where 19 people died.
Five deaths each were reported in Chattogram and Bandarban, while one person died in Rangamati.
No deaths have been reported in Khagrachhari.
