Dhaka, Sept. 21 -- A Tangail court has sentenced three people to death and four others to life in prison for the murder of Rafiqul Islam Faruk Hossain, a former chairman of the Dainu Union council in Tangail Sadar Upazila.

Tangail Additional Sessions Judge Md Faysal Al Mamun delivered the verdict in the presence of the convicts on Monday afternoon, said Additional Public Prosecutor Mohammad Saidur Rahman Swapon.

Former Chhatra League central vice president Saniat Khan Bappa is among the death penalty recipients.

Rafiqul was shot and hacked to death on Dec 20, 2013, said APP Swapon.
