3 teachers sacked over Abu Sayed death
Dhaka, Oct. 1 -- Begum Rokeya University authorities have sacked 11 staff members -- including three teachers -- over their involvement in the killing of Abu Sayed during the July 2024 Anti-discrimination Student Movement in Rangpur.
The decision was taken during the university's 123rd syndicate meeting on Wednesday following an order issued by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Showkat Ali said on Thursday.
Abu Sayed, a student in the English department, was shot and killed by police outside the university gate on Jul 16, 2024, during protests demanding quota reform.
