Dhaka, May 15 -- Police have arrested 25 individuals in various parts of Chattogram city on charges of holding a procession and chanting slogans following the funeral of Awami League (AL) presidium member and former minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain.

The arrests were made during day-long drives on Thursday by Kotwali and Khulshi police.

Two separate cases have been filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act in connection with the incidents.

According to a media release from the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), Kotwali police arrested 19 members of the now-banned AL and its affiliate organisations during raids across different neighbourhoods.
