Dhaka, May 1 -- Two policemen have been injured after coming under attack by suspected muggers while investigating a robbery report in Narayanganj's Bandar Upazila. Their shotgun was also snatched, police said.

The attack took place around 2:30am on Friday in the Old Port Chowdhury Bari area, according to Tarek Al Mehedi, additional superintendent of police for crime in Narayanganj.

He said Assistant Sub-Inspector Sohel Rana and Constable Faisal Hossain of Port Police Station were injured in the attack after being struck with sharp weapons.

"The shotgun they were carrying was also taken at the time," he said.
