Dhaka, April 20 -- A bus driver's assistant and a supervisor have died after their vehicle collided head-on with a truck in Tangail's Ghatail Upazila.

The accident occurred at 6am on Monday in the Hamidpur area along the Tangail-Mymensingh road, said Ghatail Police Station chief Md Moksedur Rahman.

The dead have been identified as bus supervisor Atiqul Islam, 40, from Tangail's Gopalpur Upazila, and bus driver's assistant Majnu Mia, 43, from the same Upazila.

Citing locals, police said that a passenger bus that departed from Gopalpur crashed into a sand-laden truck travelling in the opposite direction. The bus driver's assistant and supervisor died on the spot.
