Dhaka, Oct. 6 -- Bangladesh has reported 10 dengue deaths in a 24-hour count, the highest in a single-day toll this year.

Another 1,996 patients were admitted to hospitals during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The latest deaths take the yearly toll to 281, according to official count.

From 8am Monday to 8am Tuesday, 294 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North City Corporation and 187 in Dhaka South. Another 480 were admitted in hospitals elsewhere in Dhaka Division.

Among other divisions, 203 were admitted in Barishal, 242 in Chattogram, 302 in Khulna, 96 in Mymensingh, 199 in Rajshahi, 75 in Rangpur and 18 in Sylhet.
