Dhaka, April 18 -- Content creator AM Hasan Nasim has been sent to jail in a case filed on charges of spreading misleading information about Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni and blackmailing him.

Dhaka's Metropolitan Magistrate Hasib Ullah Pias passed the order on Saturday, said Prosecution Police Sub-Inspector Moktar Hossain.

Nasim was arrested in West Agargaon around 8pm on Friday.

A man identifying himself as Nurul Islam filed the case under the new Cyber Security Act with Gulshan Police Station.

The law was passed in the parliament recently after amendments to its ordinance promulgated during the interim government, with the last cyber security law repealed amid much criticism.
