'I used to go to school. Now I don't know what to do', says Milestone survivor struggling to reclaim childhood a year later
Bangladesh, July 20 -- Going to school, attending classes and returning home at a set time was once the daily routine of 10-year-old Abidur Rahim Abid.
That routine was shattered by a sudden tragedy that left lasting scars on both his body and mind.
The Milestone School and College student from Uttara spent six months in hospital, enduring severe burn injuries. He underwent 36 major and minor surgeries and received 18 bags of blood.
His limbs and face still bear the scars of the tragedy, in which 36 people, including 28 students of the school, lost their lives.
A year has passed since the incident, and Abid is yet to return to the classroom.
