Dhaka, Oct. 1 -- Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has outlined the government's plans to bring people from all walks of life under QR code-based transactions as part of a push towards a cashless Bangladesh.

Transactions made through the system will carry no additional charge or fee, he said.

"Under this government initiative, any transaction made through a QR code will be completely free of charge, with no additional charges or fees," Amir Khosru said.

He was speaking at the launch of Bangla QR code-based transaction services in Dhaka's Banani on Thursday, according to a finance ministry statement.
