Dhaka, Sept. 26 -- Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has hit back at a Pakistani journalist who accused New Delhi of sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan, asking: "A terrorist country is asking me that question. Come on."

The exchange took place on Friday during a press interaction at the UN headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, NDTV reports.

Jaishankar and Liberian Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti had been speaking about the newly launched Group of Friends on Safety and Security of Shipping and Seafarers.

After their remarks, the Pakistani journalist asked Jaishankar: "When will your government stop sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan?"
