Dhaka, Sept. 18 -- Police have arrested 23 people on suspicion of militancy during a "secret meeting" at Tejgaon College in Dhaka's Farmgate.

A senior police officer of the Tejgaon Division confirmed this information to bdnews24.com around 4:15pm on Friday.

They said, "Twenty-three people have been arrested from Tejgaon College during a secret meeting. We suspect they are involved in militant activities. Officials from the relevant ATU (Anti-Terrorism Unit) and CTTC (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) units have come. They are sorting out the matter. Details can be released officially at a later time."

They added, "They were arrested based on intelligence. Their case is being investigated."
