Watchdog calls for new regulations for AI products used in UK healthcare
United Kingdom, Sept. 10 -- The UK needs new regulations for artificial intelligence products used in healthcare as the technology becomes increasingly common across the NHS, according to the industry watchdog.
The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has published 44 recommendations for updating its regulatory framework following a review involving more than 12,000 patients, clinicians and other people.
MHRA chief executive Lawrence Tallon told the BBC that AI would soon become a routine part of NHS healthcare, but said its use needed to maintain patients' trust.
