United Kingdom, Sept. 4 -- TikTok is adding audio messages to its comment section.

The video sharing social media platform is expanding comments on its platform, with voice notes, polls and carousels coming soon with "a series of new updates".

In a press release, TikTok explained: "Sound and music have shaped TikTok from the very beginning, turning songs into trends and audio clips into jokes shared across the app.

"Now, we're bringing that same energy to the comment section with Voice Comments, a new way to post and listen to audio messages directly under any video."

To leave a video comment, users will be able to simply tap the microphone icon in the comment box, and from there record a message "up to 60 seconds long".

They added: ...
