United Kingdom, May 1 -- Spotify has unveiled a verification system designed to differentiate human musicians from AI content.

The streaming giant says that the 'Verified by Spotify' badge - marked by a green checkmark - will start to appear on artist profiles and search results over the coming weeks, indicating that a profile has been reviewed and meets the company's standard for authenticity.

Spotify said in a blog post that profiles primarily containing AI-generated music or AI-created artists will not be eligible for the verification badge.

The firm said: "In the AI era, it's more important than ever to be able to trust the authenticity of the music you listen to."
