United Kingdom, May 10 -- Activision has confirmed that the next Call of Duty release will skip last-generation consoles, marking a major shift for one of gaming's biggest annual franchises.
Despite the game itself not yet being officially unveiled, the publisher moved to shut down speculation that the 2026 entry would still launch on older platforms such as the PlayStation 4. In a brief statement, the official Call of Duty social media account clarified: "The next Call of Duty is not being developed for PlayStation 4."
