Crystal Dynamics defends AI use for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
United Kingdom, June 4 -- Crystal Dynamics has defended using AI in development for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis.
A new trailer for the latest game in the iconic franchise was revealed during the PlayStation State of Play event earlier this week, and a disclaimer has appeared on the upcoming title's Steam page.
It reads: "AI-assisted tools were used during development to support some early exploration and temporary development content.
"Any AI-assisted assets were either replaced or refined by humans in order to maintain the creative and artistic vision of the development team."
Now, the studio has responded to backlash from fans and sought to explain the situation, without going into specific details about how AI was used.
