United Kingdom, April 2 -- Apple has released a security fix for older iPhones and iPads.

The tech giant has taken action to battle the DarkSword hacking toolkit, which can be easily used to attack people using older versions of the iOS system.

Apple has rolled out iOS 18.7.7 and iPadOS 18.7.7 to ensure a wider range of devices can "receive important security protections from web attacks called DarkSword".

They added: "The fixes associated with the DarkSword exploit first shipped in 2025."

Apple previously reiterated its stance that the best protection for users is to update their software, with iOS 27 not at risk from the attacks.

Phones running iOS 15 to iOS 26 are also protected from the vulnerabilities.
