United Kingdom, June 1 -- Will Ferrell has recorded a new The Simpsons short.

The Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy actor has long been targetted by producers of the beloved animated comedy series for a guest role, and he's voiced the role of Mr. Monopoly in a new one-off.

The animated short tells the origin story of Mr. Monopoly and Springfield's own business mogul, Mr. Burns, and has been created to mark a collaboration between the cartoon and MONOPOLY GO!, which marks The Simpsons' first appearance in a mobile game for 13 years.

The short sees a chance encounter in Springfield reigniting an old grudge dating back to the men's college days at Yale, where they fell out over a stolen top hat.
