United Kingdom, April 9 -- The Housemaid author Freida McFadden has revealed her true identity as a brain doctor.

The prolific writer, whose hit novel was adapted into the big screen thriller starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfied, has decided "it's time" to reveal her true identity.

Freida, whose real name is Sara Cohen, has told USA Today she is actually a doctor who treats brain disorders.

She explained: "I'm at a point in my career when I'm tired of this being a secret.

"I'm tired of people debating if I'm a real person or if I'm three men. I am a real person and I have a real identity and I don't have anything to hide."
