United Kingdom, June 3 -- Spencer Pratt has promised "change" if he's elected the next mayor of Los Angeles.

The 42-year-old reality TV star is among the contenders to become the city's next mayor, and Spencer has encouraged Los Angeles residents to throw their support behind his bid.

Spencer - who has emerged as a frontrunner alongside incumbent mayor Karen Bass - said at a rally: "Everybody's giving up because they've just accepted failure. Nothing changes.

"Things can change if you vote. So to people who didn't vote for me, thank you for voting and caring about your city. I hope to switch you and show you you're going to be voting for me in November, but regardless, we need four million people to vote in November."
