United Kingdom, July 21 -- Sharon Stone was as "sick as a dog" for months after she gave up cannabis and stopped taking her stroke medication.

The Basic Instinct star had been taking prescription pills ever since she suffered a bleed on the brain back in 2001 but she was determined to embrace a "drug-free life" so she decided to stop taking the medication and she's compared the effects to weaning herself off heroin.

She told Variety: "I got off one of my medications that I was on for my stroke last September, and they said I couldn't go off of it.

"They said: 'You can't go off of it. You can never go off of it'. I'm like: 'I'm going off it,' and it was like going off of f****** heroin.

"I was sick as a frigging dog for four and a half...
